William Thomas Obituary

William D. "Bill" Thomas, 82, formerly of Fabyan, CT., passed away Sunday, August 3,2008 in Lanessa Extended Care, Webster where he has been a resident for 8 years.

Bill leaves behind three brothers: Peter and Phillip Thomas of Quinebaug, CT. and Van Thomas of Fabyan, CT; he also leaves three sisters: Alexandria and Marion Thomas of Fabyan, CT., and Irene Stefani of New Jersey; as well as several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a brother, Michael D. Thomas and a sister, Sophie Bendo.

Bill was born in Fabyan, a son of Demetre and Afroditi (Daniels) Thomas and lived in Fabyan most of his life. He was a WWII Navy Veteran and saw action in the Pacific on an LST. Bill was a graduate of Tourtellotte Memorial High School in Thompsom and a graduate of the New London School of Accounting. He was a member of Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Webster and a member of the Thompson Lodge of Masons. He was an avid golfer, tennis player, and racketball player and enjoyed sports of all kinds. He was the manager of the former Thomas Garden Center in Quinebaug.

Funeral services for Bill will be Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at 11:00 A.M in Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, Lake Parkway, Webster, followed by burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery. There will be a calling hour on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. in the Robert J. Miller Funeral Home and Lake Chapel, 366 School St., Webster. A Trisaigion Service will be at 10:15 A.M in the funeral home.
