Philip Ciavola Obituary

Philip A. "Red" Ciavola, 72, of Worcester, died Tuesday, August 5th in his home.

He leaves his wife, Elizabeth A. (McTigue) Ciavola; three sons, Michael P. Ciavola of Northbridge, Anthony R. Ciavola and his partner David Camp of Chicago, IL and Joseph F. Ciavola and his wife MarLynn of Washington D.C.; two daughters, Patricia M. Ciavola and her husband Dudley "Woody" Woodford of Jupiter, FL and Gina M. DePalma and her husband Chris of Bellingham, WA; a brother, Robert A. Ciavola of Auburn; a sister, Rosemary L. Ciccarelli and her husband John of Amherst and West Yarmouth; four grandchildren, William Ciavola of Northbridge and his mother Dawn Yacino of Douglas and Francis, Emmanuel and Marie DePalma all of Bellingham, WA; a sister-in-law, Joyce Ciavola; a nephew and three nieces.

He was born in Clinton, the son of Philip A. Ciavola, Sr. and Laura (Antonio) Ciavola. Mr. Ciavola was a 1953 graduate of Clinton High School and attended Fitchburg State and Worcester Junior College. He was employed by Verizon for 26 years until his retirement in 1991. Mr. Ciavola was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church, the American Legion Main South Post #341, the Bell Retirees and the Telephone Pioneers of America. Mr. Ciavola loved golf and played at Hillcrest Country Club with the Growlers. He enjoyed the Red Sox, Patriots and attending his grandson's sports games.

The funeral is Saturday, August 9th from O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, August 8th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Our Lady of the Angels Church, Restoration Fund, 1222 Main Street, Worcester, MA 01603 or to the Massachusetts Veterans Shelter, 69 Grove Street, Worcester, MA 01605.
