Alicia Alteri Obituary

Alicia Ann Altieri died suddenly, Friday, August 8, 2008 after a brief illness.

Alicia leaves her husband John McEvoy, and 13 year old son Jake McEvoy both of Westminster, her mother Carol and father, Frank A. Altieri of Madison, CT, two brothers and their wife's Frank and Gail Altieri of N. Easton, and Michael and Stacey Altieri of Bethany, CT, also she loved her three very close nieces and three nephews, Alyssa, Lianna and Hannah, Michael, Joseph and Mark Altieri, one sister-in-law and her husband Mary and Gerry Frenette of Chelmsford, three brothers-in-law James McEvoy of Lawrence, Jeffery and Tina McEvoy of Brookline, N.H., Joseph McEvoy of N.H., and many other nieces and nephews.

Alicia was born on March 4, 1962 in New Haven, CT, and attended Amity Junior and Senior High Schools, before graduating from the University of Massachusetts, Cum Laude. In her junior year at college, she was an exchange student with the University of Oregon. After graduating from UMASS, she received a Master's Degree in Community Planning, graduating Magna Cum Laude from the University of Rhode Island. Alicia worked as the Assistant Town Planner for the Town of Falmouth, the Town Planner for the Town of Boxborough from 1988 to 2004; she was currently the Town Planner for the Town of Westminster, from July 2004 until the present. Alicia was a member of the Mass Association of Planning Directors, the American Planning Association, the American Institute of Certified Planners, and was involved with the North County Land Trust and conservation of land in Westminster.

Alicia was a gentle, kind and strong woman. Alicia was engaged in a high level of thoughtfulness and generosity of sprit.

She loved spending holidays and vacations with her family and relatives, such as Sebasco Lake and Bar Harbor, ME, Smuggler's Notch, VT, and just two weeks ago in Ocean City, N.J.

He gave a great deal to her husband John, her family, her parents, her relatives, and her city planning work. Throughout her years, she was amazingly wonderful and carried a warm spirit along with her strength and conscientiousness. She treated everyone with respect, was very giving, and had a great compassion for those less fortunate. She was very close with Jake, her son, whom she spent time with every day and night. Her mother and father had the splendid opportunity to be with her for 46 years and truly hope she feels comfort and peace now.

The Funeral will be held at graveside in the Whitmanville Cemetery, South Ashburnham Road, Westminster, MA 01473 on Thursday, August 14, 2008 at 10:00 A.M.

Calling Hours will be on Wednesday, August 13, 2008 from 4:00-7:00 P.M. in the Westminster Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, (www.masciarellifamilyfuneralhomes.net), 123 Main Street, Westminster, MA 01473.

In Lieu of Flowers, Alicia's Family asks for Memorial Donations be made to the Jacob McEvoy Scholarship Fund, I-C Federal Credit Union, 101 Main Street, Westminster, MA 01473 or may be left at the Funeral Home.

Although I have not seen Alicia since high school, I was truly saddened to hear of her passing. I will remember her laughter, her smile and what a kind soul she was. My heart goes out to her family and friends on their loss.
