William McCauley Obituary

William E. McCauley, 91, of 65 New Braintree Road, died Sunday, August 31, 2008 in UMass Memorial, Memorial Campus, Worcester.

His wife of 67 years, Blanche M. (Ellis) McCauley, died in 2005. He leaves his son, Roger "Skip" D. McCauley and his wife Darlene of Holden; a daughter, JoAnn Blodgett and her husband Ronald of Lancaster; five brothers, Cecil C. McCauley of Worcester, Daniel D., Robert C. and Donald F. McCauley all of Holden, and Kenneth W. McCauley of Hubbardston; a sister, Helen R. Breault of Templeton; seven grandchildren, Kim, Tammy, Candace, William, Debora, Jennifer and Pamela; 10 great-grandchildren, Brendan, Ryan, Nathan, Eli, Daniel, Elly, Charlotte, Lucas, Gabriel and Christopher; many nephews and nieces. A son, LeRoy "Cap" McCauley, died in 1954. A brother, Winifred, and 3 sisters, Agnes, Ruth, and Bess, predeceased him.

Mr. McCauley was born in Worcester, son of William A. and Elva (Elliott) McCauley, and lived in Holden before moving to North Brookfield 35 years ago. He was a graduate of Worcester Boys Trade High School. He was a 50-year member of the Carpenters Union Local 107 and worked in construction for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and miniature poodle "Taddy". He was a lifelong sportsman and loved tending to his perennial gardens.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service for William at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 4th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery, Holden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Second Chance Animal Shelter, Inc., P.O. Box 136, East Brookfield, MA 01515; or the North Brookfield Police Dept., Toys for Joy, 13 Summer St., North Brookfield, MA 01535.
