Judith Powell Obituary

Judith M. (Hanscom) Powell, 72, of Themeli Court, died Monday, September 15, 2008, in her home. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Walter S. Powell of North Oxford; three children, Susan L. Quinn of Charlton, Jeffrey H. Powell of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, and Stephen C. Powell of Sterling; three grandchildren, Maura Jane Quinn, Daniel Quinn, and Sydney Powell; a great grandson, Emanuel Rojas Quinn; and many nephews and nieces, including Cynthia Fuller of Barrington, RI. Mrs. Powell was born in Walpole, the daughter of the late Clinton and Edith (Jonah) Hanscom, and lived in Walpole, Natick, and Hudson before moving to North Oxford 11 years ago. She graduated from Walpole High School in 1953.

Mrs. Powell was a registered nurse, employed as nurse manager at Digital Equipment Corp. in Hudson for 23 years. Previously, she worked at Framingham Union Hospital in Framingham. She loved singing, and was a former member of the Women of Note chorus in Hudson for many years.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on September 23, 2008, at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will be at a later date at North Cemetery, Oxford. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association of Massachusetts, 460 Totten Pond Road, Suite 400, Waltham, MA 02451-1942.
