Thomas Gagliastre Obituary

Thomas "Nouch" Gagliastre of Worcester, MA, passed away October 1st, 2008 after a brief illness.

He was predeceased by his wife, Rita (Molinari) Gagliastre, who died on March 3, 1992.

He leaves two sons, Thomas E. Gagliastre and Michael Gagliastre both of Shrewsbury; a daughter, Joan Galantino, of Worcester; six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves his longtime companion Katherine DiMarzio of Gardner.

Thomas was born in Worcester, the son of Michael and Mariantone (Autunnale) Gagliastre. He worked for Coppus Engineering in Worcester for 39 years and was chief steward and president of Local 178 Boilermakers Union. He maintained a Master Television Repair License, served in the Army during World War II, and also was a professional roller - skater as part of the "Lightning Duo."

He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Caramel-St. Ann church in Worcester. Other memberships included Coppus Social Club and the Coppus Old Timer's Club.

He lived for his grandchildren, loved cooking, gardening, ballroom dancing, playing cards and enjoyed keeping busy with his gadgets and working with his hands.

Thomas's funeral will be held Friday October 3rd with a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann Church. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Tom,
You will be sadly missed! You were a wonderful, caring friend; always willing to lend a hand and we appreciated that. The laughs we used to have about the Boston Red Sox and how they were nothing more than overpaid "bums" as you used to say.
