Marion V. Sorel

Marion V. (Schmidt) Sorel, 89, a life long Clinton resident, died on Thursday, October 2, 2008 at the Sterling Healthcare Center after a brief illness.  She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of forty five years, Paul J. Sorel who died in 1981, and her daughter, Paula Sorel who died in 1959. She is survived by two daughters, Karen Bailey of Clinton, and Marcia Ferry of Concord, CA; six grandchildren, Lee Wasserman, Robert and Michael Ferry, Paul, Brendon, and Kevin Bailey; thirteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a sister Irene Esielonis; two brothers, Raymond and William Schmidt; and her son-in-law Brendon Bailey.

Marion was born in Clinton to the late William and Gertrude (Shaughnessy) Schmidt and attended local schools. She was employed for more than thirty years as an inspector with the former Colonial Press in Clinton until their closing. For the next twenty five years she was employed as a machine operator with the Nypro Company in Clinton until her retirement in 2004. Mrs. Sorel was a life long member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Clinton.

Funeral services are to be held on Monday, October 6, 2008 from the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, 80 Union St., Clinton. Burial is to follow at St. John Cemetery in Lancaster.
