Mary Howard Obituary

Mary A. (Devine) Howard, of 118 Wyoming Dr., died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, October 6, 2008 after an illness.

She leaves her husband of 47 years, Wayne D. Howard; two sons, Wayne D. Howard, Jr. and his wife Kelly of Hubbardston and Scott C. Howard and his wife Jacqueline of Holden; three daughters, Suzanne M. Kasparson and her husband Peter of Holden, Julie L. Morris and her husband Stephen of Sturbridge and Christine F. Martunas and her husband Robert of Rutland; three brothers, Francis Devine and Bruce Boynton both of Watertown, NY, and Thomas Devine of Rochester, NY; three sisters, Patricia Musselman of Richmond, VA, Elizabeth Bannister of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Charlotte Weiner of Coral Springs, FL; a sister-in-law, Tamara J. Arsenault of Chateauguay, Québec, Canada; 6 grandchildren, who were Mary's delight and love, Emily, Jessica, Lauren, Alec, Mary and Molly.

Mary was born in Watertown, New York, daughter of Francis J. and Evelyn E. (Farmer) Devine, and has lived in Holden since 1972. She was a graduate of Immaculate Heart Academy in Watertown and was a member of St. George's Church. She was an Underwriter of Worcester Insurance now Harleysville Insurance for 12 years, retiring in 1997.

The family wishes to express sincere thanks to all of the nurses and support team at UMass Memorial Hospice, particularly to nurse Gail H. for her care and compassion.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. The funeral for Mary will be held on Thursday from the funeral home with a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. George's Church, 38 Brattle St., Worcester. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to UMass Memorial Hospice, Music Therapy Program, Attn: Tomoka Sakai, 650 Lincoln St., Worcester, MA 01605.
