Andrew Baca Obituary

Andrew J. Baca Jr., 88, formerly of West St. died Mon. Oct. 6, at Hubbard Hospital in Webster. He had been a resident of Christopher House in Webster for the past 2 years. His wife of 60 years Josephine R. "Pee Wee" (White) Baca died on Oct. 4, 2001.

He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Kathleen Baca of Webster; 3 grandchildren, James Baca and his wife Lori of Webster, Jennifer Baca of Ware, MA and Andrew Baca and his wife Melissa of Webster; 4 great grandchildren; a brother, John Baca of Douglas; a sister, Alice Plante of MD; and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his son, Andrew J. Baca III, and 2 sisters, Catherine Cencak and Anna Baca.

Born on Feb. 18, 1920, in Douglas, MA he was the son of the late Andrew Sr. and Mary (Ofcarcak) Baca and has lived in Douglas most of his life. Mr. Baca was a WWII U.S. Army veteran. He worked at the former Hayward Schuster and for the Guilford Corp. for 25 years before his retirement in 1985. Andrew worked on the Douglas Fire Dept for 17 years, the Douglas Ambulance for 9 years, and was a town assessor and selectman. He was a member of St. Denis Church in Douglas and the Joseph Michna VFW Post 7554.

His funeral will be held on Fri. Oct 10, from Jackman Funeral Home 7 Mechanic St. Douglas, with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Denis Church, 23 Manchaug St. Burial will follow at St. Denis Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home in Douglas will be held on Thur. Oct. 9, from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations in Andrew's memory may be made to St. Denis Church, 23 Manchaug St., Douglas, MA 01516 or the Douglas Fire Department, P.O. Box 222 - 64 Main Street Douglas, Massachusetts 01516.
