Theresa Auren Obituary

Theresa "Terry" (Feltmate) Auren, died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday morning, October 7th. She joins her husband of 75 years, Richard C. Auren, Sr. who died on April 28th. She leaves her two sons: Richard C. Auren and his wife Harriet of Concord, NH, Raymond Auren and his wife Evelyn of Auburn; two daughters: Loretta Henry and her husband Russell of Shrewsbury, and Lois Ward and her husband Jeff of Glenn, NH; ten grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren (with one on the way). She was predeceased by her sister, Katherine Jarvis.

Terry was born in Cambridge, daughter of the late Cecil and Mabel (Myers) Feltmate. She later lived in West Boylston for several years before moving to Auburn in 1940. Terry was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in North Oxford. Her working career began with several years at the former W.T. Grant Company, then in the Auburn School Department. She retired in 1980 after 23 years with Paul Revere Insurance Co., Worcester where she was a supervisor in its food service department. She was a member ALFA Club, and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was very active in the Rainbow Girls with her children. Terry also loved her Thursday morning Bible study group, and spending time outdoors. On a good night, you could always find Terry sitting on her patio in front of a "campfire".

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours Thursday, Oct. 9th at the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn from 5-7 PM. A memorial service will be held later, followed by burial in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, West Boylston.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, 693 Main St., N. Oxford, MA 01537 or to the Shriners Hospital, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104. For directions or to leave a message of sympathy for the Auren family, please visit

Who loves you George? We will love you always Moo Moo. You were the best grandmother, and great-grandmother a family could have. Rest easy now, your work is done. Enjoy your time in heaven!

"Terry" always seemed to be cooking which she did professionally and, more recently, with lots of pleasure and joy. She was a very loving and concerned mate for Richard Sr. and a compassionate matron for the multiple generations of descendants. Most thankfully and with God's blessings, she savored her recent months with a renewed vigor, awareness, and enjoyment that had been subdued while caring for and worrying about her late husband. But now she will spend an eternity, constantly being friendly and personable, in a place accompanied by and prepared for her by her soul-mate. God Speed, God Bless, and Peace be with both of you and with those many loved ones you've left behind.
