Kathleen Laporte Obituary
A graduate of both the former St. Peter's High School and Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing, Kathie earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration degrees from Anna Maria College.
She began her career in the Intensive Care Unit at City Hospital, becoming Supervisor of Emergency Medical Services, before leaving for St. Vincent Hospital, where she worked for more than 25 years. She served first as Director of Critical Care Units and most recently in the Division of Quality Care Management.
She was a member of several professional nursing organizations, including the Massachusetts Nurses Association. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church where she served as a Lector and a Eucharistic Minister. She was also a proud Soccer Mom who enjoyed watching all of her sons play.
CALLING HOURS are 5 to 8 p.m. MONDAY, Oct. 13, in KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln St. A FUNERAL MASS will be held at 10 a.m. TUESDAY, Oct. 14, in IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH, 353 Grove St. A close family member, Rev. George L. O'Brien, will be the principal celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Leicester, MA.
The family suggests donations in memory of Kathie be made to the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center, 72 Cambridge St., Worcester, MA 01603. Directions and condolence book available at

So sorry to learn of the death of Kathy. I first met her when our sons were classmates at St. John's. I recall that during a blizzard my son , Joseph was with Bill and some other boys at the LaPorte home. The power went out, and wood was scarce so Kathy instructed the boys to break up some old furniture to feed the fireplace for warmth. She was a "take charge" person who took great care of the boys that night. She will be missed!

I worked with Kathy at St. V's for a short time. Kathy and I became fast friends. When my husband became ill and passed away Kathy would always seek me out for a hug, words of encouragement or just her friendship. Kathy always gave her best to her patients and friends she will be truly missed. Please accept my condolences for your great loss.

I have known Kathie for many years at St Vincent Hospital. She was always available for patients, family members and co-workers. Not only will she be greatly missed both as a colleague and friend, but so will her smile. My thoughts and prayers will be with you, her family.

Marian and I are so sorry for your loss and know your mother is in a better place . We worked with Kathie at Worcester City and lost touch until our sons played soccer together . Never heard her say a bad word about anyone ! Always had a great smile no matter what difficulties would come her way - especially when taliking about her three little darlings . So sorry to hear about Kathie. She helped organize the work baby shower for my first child many years ago and our paths have criss crossed over the years ending most recently at 35 N. She always treated others with kindness, compassion and respect. Kathy

We are sorry to hear about Kathy. Kathy and my Mother Edna Burack worked together at St. V's for many years. I have been going through my Mom's old pictures from the parties and reunions and retirement parties. Kathy was a great nurse and will be missed. I was in Worcester in August and was sad to see that they had torn down the old St. V's.

I have known Kathy for several years both as a colleague and a friend at St. Vincent's Hospital. She had a warm and caring heart and was very supportive to both patients and their families.
