Lillian Kravitz Obituary

Lillian (Cohen) Kravitz, 102, formerly of 34 Winifred Ave., passed away on Monday, October 13th at the Jewish Healthcare Center.

She leaves her beloved husband of 81 years, Abe Kravitz. She was the devoted mother of David Kravitz and his wife Roberta of Worcester, Rubin Kravitz and his wife Annabelle of Virginia Beach, VA and Melvin Kravitz and his wife Loretta of Belmont. She was the proud and loving grandmother of nine cherished grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brothers, Joseph and Simon Cohen and her great-grandson, Devin Kravitz.

She was born in Russia and was the daughter of Samuel and Anna Cohen. After coming to The United States, her family lived in Westboro, where she met her husband at a dance and married on May 21, 1927.

With her husband she owned a kosher catering business for many years.

She was a life member of Beth Israel Synagogue and its Sisterhood. For many years she was an active volunteer of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Jewish Healthcare Center, the Jewish Service Center for Older Adults and delivered meals for Rachel's Table.

Her family will remember her for her love of cooking, baking, gardening, knitting, playing Mah-jongg and her passion for life. She enjoyed the beach, being outside spending her winters in Florida. Her most important priority was spending time with her family.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on THURSDAY, OCTOBER 16TH in BETH ISRAEL SYNAGOGUE on JAMESBURY DRIVE. Burial will be in B'Nai Brith Cemetery.

Due to the Observance of the Succouth Holiday, memorial visitation will be held at 1 PM to 4 PM on Friday, October 17th and on Sunday, October 19th at the residence of David and Roberta Kravitz, 315 June St.

Memorial contributions may be made to Beth Israel Synagogue on Jamesbury Drive, Worcester 01609 or to The Jewish Healthcare Center, 629 Salisbury St., Worcester 01609.

Perlman Funeral Home is directing funeral arrangements.

I remember so well speaking with Abe and Lilian Kravitz on their 75th wedding anniversary for an article for the Jewish Chronicle. It was such an enjoyable experience. Even in my brief contact, I knew Lillian was a very special person. I hope the many years of warm memories help to comfort you.
