Robert Mercier Obituary

Robert "Sonny" L. Mercier, 56, of 206 Central St., Gardner, died at home Sunday, October 12, 2008 after a lengthy illness, surrounded in the love of his family and friends.

Sonny was born in Gardner on November 15, 1951, son of Rita (Manseau) Mercier and the late Samuel Mercier and lived here all of his life. He graduated from Gardner High School class of 1969 and later enlisted in the United States Airforce where he was a jet engine mechanic. He worked for 20 years at St. Gobain in Worcester and enjoyed repairing vehicles, fishing, deep sea fishing and most especially camping. More than anything, he enjoyed being surrounded by his family and friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Marilyn J. (Cutting) Mercier; his mother, Rita (Manseau) Mercier Stowell of Gardner; five sons, Robert L. Mercier, Jr. of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Joel A. Mercier of Gardner, Timothy J. Duval of Brooklyn, Connecticut, Robert L. Duval of Gardner and Samuel P. Mercier of Gilbertville, Massachusetts; two daughters, Kristene M. Ambrose of Winchendon and Jessica L. Mercier of Ware; three brothers, Alfred Mercier of Pineville, Louisiana, George "Joe" Mercier of Florida and Leon Mercier of East Swanzey, New Hampshire; two sisters, Anne M. McMillen and Lorraine Marion, both of Gardner, 9 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, including Mark A. Racine and his wife Karen of Gardner, with whom he was very close.

You are invited to attend his funeral service in Lamoureux-Fletcher Community Funeral Home, 105 Central St., Gardner on Thursday, October 16, 2008 at 9:45 AM. Pastor Rick Needham, Pastor of the Jaffrey Bible Church in Jaffrey New Hampshire will officiate. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be from 6-8 PM Wednesday. Those who wish may make contributions in his memory to Walk to Cure Cancer, 333 South St., Room 13E-495, Shrewsbury, MA 01545. I will miss seeing you guys in so early in the morning, especially when you where always so TIRED!! you where Snoozing here too.
