Rose Celona Obituary

Rose G. (Santangelo) Celona, 99, formerly of 24 Water St. and 101 Pine St., died Friday, October 17, 2008, in UMass Memorial Healthcare, Worcester, after an illness. Her husband, Stephen J. Celona, died in 1987.

She leaves a daughter, Mary C. Lydon and her husband, John, of Grantham, NH; three sons: Stephen J. Celona and his wife, Patricia, of Worcester, Paul A. Celona and his wife, Donna, of Shirley, and Michael J. Celona, and his wife, Christine, of Mt. Holly Springs, PA; thirteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Four brothers: Stephen, Dominick, John, and Joseph Santangelo, and four sisters: Mary Caruso, Helen Kerrigan, Ann Femino, and Margaret Turini, predeceased her.

Rose was born and raised in Clinton, the daughter of Dominic and Flavia (Conjemi) Santangelo, and attended local schools. For twenty years, she was a resident of S. Barre.

She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church.

The Celona family would like to thank the Autumn Village and UMass-Memorial Emergency Room staffs for their compassionate care.

Rose's funeral will be held on Monday, October 20, 2008, from the McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St., with a Mass at 12:00 Noon in St. John the Evangelist Church, 80 Union St. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Lancaster. A calling hour at the funeral home will be held on Monday, October 20, 2008, from 10:45-11:45 a.m.
