Irene McShera Obituary

Irene M. (Mills) McShera, 84, of 2 Andy Drive, Cherry Valley, a section of Leicester, died Thursday, October 16 in Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester after an illness. She was the wife of Joseph K. McShera, Sr. who died in 1981.

She leaves a son, Joseph K. McShera, Jr. and his wife Linda of Cherry Valley; three daughters, Carol Ann McShera of Cherry Valley, Margaret "Peggy" Dix and her husband John of Leicester, Frances Keating of Worcester; a sister, Claire C. Scully of Cherry Valley; 6 grandchildren, Kevin, Keely and Kendra McShera, Jennifer Roca, Tara Keating and "Spike" Keating; 4 great-grandchildren, Casey and Carlee McShera, Daegan and Evie Roca and nieces and nephews.

Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of Frederick J. & Catherine (Stenson) Mills.

Mrs. McShera held various occupations during her lifetime. She was a graduate of Leicester High School and the Salter Secretarial School in Worcester. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Leicester and the Senior Citizen Club of Leicester. She enjoyed her weekly trips to the Senior Center and playing BINGO.

The family would like to thank the nurses in the Infusion Center at St. Vincent Hospital.

The funeral will be held Monday, October 20, from the MORIN-MORRISON FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 759 Main St., Leicester. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Leicester. CALLING HOURS are Sunday, from 4-7 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Leicester Food Pantry, c/o St. Joseph's Church, 759 Main St. Leicester, MA. 01524.

I am sorry to hear about the loss of Irene. I have fond memories of working with her at Clark Manor Nursing Home back in the mid 70's. If my memory serves me correct we share the same birthday (Feb 17th)
