Elizabeth Crowley Obituary

Elizabeth Coe Crowley died following a courageous battle with cancer and encroaching blindness. She was 81.

She was born in Worcester, MA, the daughter of the late Robert Howe Coe and Janet Briggs Coe. She was the widow of Edward Crowley. She was a graduate of The Bancroft School, Pine Manor College and The Fashion Academy of New York. She belonged to St. Andrews Episcopal Church of Wellesley, The Beach Club of Craigville, The Worcester Historical Society and The Worcester Club. A member of The Mayflower Society, she was a direct descendant of John and Priscilla Alden.

She was a life long Republican and an avid student of American and English history. A voracious reader, she was interested in everything from books about Frank Sinatra to George Washington, a personal hero of hers. Music of all kinds was also a life long pleasure for her, from old show tunes to contemporary pop music. She was also an ardent animal lover, particularly cats.

She kept her stunning looks and charm throughout her life and looked 20 years younger than her age.

She leaves her son Cameron Crowley of Atlanta, a daughter Janet Crowley of California and her sister Janet Carroll of New Castle, NH.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am. Thursday Oct. 23 in the Ellen Rogers Kennedy Chapel of Rural Cemetery 180 Grove St. Worcester.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Stray Pets in Need (SPIN) P.O. Box 812143, Wellesley, MA 02482 or: Preservation Worcester 10 Cedar Street, Worcester, MA 01609.

Cameron & Jill- I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I am a long, lost cousin in Oregon (Carol Claire Crowley Hanlon's daughter). I remember meeting you only once in Boston when I was 5 years old but I remember my mother spoke often about your mother and how she admired her spunk and flare. Word of your mother's death reached me from Frank Callahan. My thoughts are with you during this sad time.
