Mildred Desrosiers Obituary

Mildred E. (Perry) Desrosiers, 85, of West Boylston died Sunday, October 19th in Oakdale Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in West Boylston after an illness.

Her husband, Norbert Desrosiers died in 1971. She leaves a daughter, Norma A. Chanis and her husband Stephen C. Chanis of West Boylston. As one of ten children, she leaves three sisters, Helen Joyal of Thompson, CT, Myrtice Lapreay of Plainville CT and Ada Schmidt of Plantsville CT. She also is survived by many other extended family members scattered throughout the country.

She was born and raised in Putnam, Connecticut, daughter of the late George E. and Ella (Long) Perry. She graduated from Putnam High School and had lived in various towns in Connecticut and Massachusetts before moving to West Boylston a year ago.

Mildred was a Licensed Practical Nurse and she worked for the Grafton and Westboro State Hospitals for over 30 years before she retired. After retirement Mildred enjoyed spending time doing handwork: crocheting, knitting and quilting, and enjoying the birds.

Mildred's family wishes to thank the entire staff of Oakdale Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center and the UMass Memorial Hospice for all their compassionate care of Mildred during the last year.

They are very grateful that these wonderful people were added to Mildred's and Norma's life.

Funeral services for Mildred will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Saint Augustine Cemetery in Manchester, N.H. Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury is assisting the family with arrangements. For Mildred's personal online memorial obituary, please visit
