Marion MacMillan Obituary

Marion Florence (Knowlton) MacMillan, 83, of Auburn, died Wednesday in in her daughter's home after an illness.

Her husband William J. MacMillan, Jr. died in 1994.

Marion leaves her daughters, Shirley and her husband Stephen "Sam" Hill, and Cynthia M. and her husband Michael Dube, all of Auburn; her three granddaughters whom she adored, Stephanie Hill Rice, of Leicester, Amy Kaczyk Sullivan, of Harwich, and Allison Hill, of Worcester. She leaves six great grandchildren, Mac, Abigail, Zoe, Emma, Sam, and Hannah. She also leaves her "Dube Grandchildren", Kyle and Todd Dube, Jennifer Bohn and Susan Folsom and 11 great grandchildren from this extended family who affectionately called her "Ma". She leaves one sister-in-law, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Everett and Earl Knowlton and Mildred Bjork and Dorothy Wilson.

She was born in Worcester, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Florence (Berg) Knowlton; she lived in Auburn for most of her life. Marion enjoyed baking her loved ones favorite goodies, Christmas cookies and apple pies. She loved to knit, sew, and was a skilled cake decorator, whittler, and basket maker. She assisted Cindy for many years with her own basket weaving business.

Marion's best friends in life were her siblings and their spouses whom she and Will went on many camping trips with. She especially enjoyed Augusts at South Arm Campground with so many she loved. Weekly lunch dates with Jennifer, who was so devoted, were a bright spot for her.

Her family would like to thank UMass Hospice, especially Kelly and Pam, for their loving care and comfort they showed the family.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours from 5-8 PM Friday in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St. Auburn. Her funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 12PM Saturday October 25. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.
