Patricia Calvo Obituary

Patricia B. (Pease) Calvo, 79, beloved wife of James S. Calvo, passed away on October 24, 2008 after a long illness. She was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Elizabeth "Beth" Pease. Patricia was predeceased by her son, Peter Abbott, a mime who founded the New England Mime Festival and the Mime Studio in Worcester, a brother, Benjamin Pease, his wife, Marylois "Scotty", their sons, Jamie and Scott and another nephew Richard Abbott.

Pat leaves her husband James of 36 years and is also survived by her stepchildren; Jaime Calvo and his son James, Marybeth "Nini" Emmons, her husband, Christopher and their daughter Sophia Marie, Toby Calvo, his wife, Kristen and their son Connor and daughter Katherine. She is also survived by her nieces Christy Pease, her son and daughter, J. Scott and Callum MacDuffie, Deborah Holmgren, Lynne Francolini, Karen Fisher, Robin Berwick and Kim Brown, her nephews, Scott, George and Dwight Abbott.

Pat was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on October 5, 1929 before moving to Grafton with her family when she was a teenager. She attended Grafton public schools and graduated from the Bancroft School, class of 1947. Continuing her education she graduated from Colby Junior College (now Colby-Sawyer College) in 1949.

Pat worked at Clark University as an Administrative Assistant in the office of the president and later as Personnel Director. She moved with her husband to Pittsburgh, PA where she became an active member of the community, serving for several years on the Board of the Crisis Center North, a non-profit organization assisting battered women. Her devotion and dedication to her work at the center imparted her with a quiet sense of personal fulfillment. Pat was also a court advocate and a crisis hotline worker. When they returned to their home in Grafton she continued to be actively involved in the community. Her extensive world travels with her husband offered Pat an opportunity to gain a greater sense of empathy for those less fortunate. She was never one who looked for praise or recognition from others and felt grateful for the chance to give of herself to the causes she held close to her heart.

Pat was a very caring and compassionate person who always had a kind word to say. Her family and friends enjoyed and appreciated her wonderful sense of humor, her wise counsel, her warm smile and her enduring friendship. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her but, most especially, by her loving and devoted husband "JC".

There are no calling hours. Her burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. A celebration of Pat's life will be held on November 9, 2008 at the Grafton Inn, 25 Grafton Common, Grafton, MA from 2-4 pm. In lieu of any flowers, Pat's family requests that contributions be made in her name to either the Grafton Food Bank, Municipal Building, 30 Providence Road, Grafton, MA 01519 or Daybreak Inc., P.O. Box 3093, Worcester, MA 01613

Her arrangements are under the direction of The Robert C. Roney Funeral Home, 152 Worcester Street, North Grafton, MA 01536

Dear Jamie and family,
My life has been blessed with the friendship and memories of Pat. She was an angel on earth.
What grand times we had together- great tennis games, entertaining get-togethers with the "Foxcroft Gang", special moments in quiet conversation, and Pat's wonderful laugh.
May she continue her journey in peace and love in the hands of God.
My deepest sympathy and prayers to you, Jamie, and to your family.
Love, Susan Feierabend
