Marguerite Hayes Obituary

Marguerite A. (O'Donnell) Hayes, 76, of Ocala, Fla. and formerly of Worcester, died Saturday, October 25, 2008 in the Monroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala.

Her husband of 52 years, Gerald J. Hayes Sr., died in 2003.

She leaves three sons, Gerald J. Hayes, Jr. and his wife Faith of Round Rock, Texas, John J. Hayes of Foxboro, and William E. Hayes of Plainville; two daughters, Barbara E. Rozumek and her husband Robert of North Ft. Myers, Fla. and Margaret M. North of Plainville; seven grandsons, Matthew, Ryan, Nicholas, Patrick, Kevin and Philip Hayes and Michael North, a granddaughter, Jennifer North, a great-granddaughter, Miranda North-Weir and many nephews and nieces.

Her two brothers, John E. O'Donnell, Jr. and James B. O'Donnell, and her sister, Catherine Muriel Welch, predeceased her.

Marguerite was born in Worcester, daughter of John E. and Margaret M. (Higgins) O'Donnell. In 1960, she moved to Hyannis where she lived 18 years before moving to Hanover in 1978. She lived in Port Charlotte, Fla. before moving to Ocala in 1997.

She attended St. Stephen's High School and Worcester State College. She was a teacher's aide for the Barnstable Public Schools in Hyannis for several years.

She was an active member of Queen of Peace Church in Ocala.

Calling hours at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester, will be on Thursday, Oct. 30 from 5 to 8 p.m. The funeral Mass will be Friday, Oct. 31 from the funeral home with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Stephen's Church, 357 Grafton St., Worcester. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Assn., 330 Congress St., 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02210
