Mary Grandone Obituary

Mary H. Grandone, 100, died on Monday Oct. 27, 2008 in Webster Manor. She leaves 5 nieces and 9 nephews, 5 grand nieces and 10 grand nephews, 5 great-grandnieces and 6 great-grandnephews.

She was born in Oxford, daughter of Dominic and Maria (Bavose) Grandone, and lived in Oxford all her life. She and her sister, the late Sarah Grandone Bickford were the first twins to graduate from Oxford High School. She also graduated from Post's Business Institute in Worcester in 1927.

Mary was a member of the Oxford United Methodist Church, she also sang in the choir at the First Congregational Church in Millbury. She was a member of Clara Barton Chapter Eastern Star for 25 years. She retired in 1973 from the New England Power Service Company-Central Laboratory in Worcester after 22 years as a clerk-typist. She also worked at Shepard Products Co., in Worcester for 2 years as a clerk-typist, and was a medical secretary for the late Dr. Albert Hurd in Millbury. She is the last survivor of all 11 children.

A calling hour will be held from 10 to 11:00AM on Thursday, October 30th, 2008 in the United Methodist Church, 465 Main St., Oxford, with a Mass at 11:00AM in the church. Burial will follow in North Cemetery, Oxford. Contributions may be sent to a charity of one's choice. The family has entrusted arrangements to the Robert J. Miller-Oxford Funeral Home, 247 Main St., Oxford.
