Duncan McLeod Obituary

Duncan E. McLeod, 69, of 413 Theresa St., died Sunday, October 19, 2008 in his home, after being stricken ill.

He leaves two brothers: Robert B. McLeod and his wife, Judith, of Lancaster, and Donald S. McLeod and his wife, Judith, of Huntington Beach, CA; a nephew, Brian S. McLeod and his wife, Amy, of Huntington Beach, CA; and two nieces: Adrian McLeod of New York, NY, and Bonnie Lupo and her husband, Peter, of Hermosa Beach, CA. A brother, Malcolm G. McLeod, died in 1995.

Duncan was born in Clinton, son of George and Marion (Wahl) McLeod. He was a graduate of Clinton High School, Class of 1956, and Clark University, Worcester. He received his Law Degree from Suffolk University, Boston.

For over thirty years, he was the Clerk of Courts for the Fitchburg District Court. Previously, he owned and operated a law office on High St. in Clinton. Prior to that, he worked for Judge Maurice Gould.

He was a Veteran of the US Airforce.

He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Clinton, the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Fitchburg Rotary Club, and was a Past Chair of the Clinton Republican Town Committee. A voracious reader and avid gardener, Duncan was a loyal New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox Fan. For the past several years, he enjoyed spending his winters in Ft. Pierce, FL.

A funeral service for Duncan was held on Thursday, October 23, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St., Clinton. Burial followed in Eastwood Cemetery, Lancaster. Calling hours at the funeral home were held on Wednesday, October 22, 2008, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Duncan's memory to the Fitchburg Public Library, 610 Main St., Fitchburg, MA 01420. mcnallywatson.com
