Theresa Humphrey Obituary

Theresa L. (Ley) Humphrey, 49, of Sterling Rd., died on Thursday, October 30, 2008 at UMass Memorial Healthcare-University Campus in Worcester after being stricken ill.  She is survived by her beloved husband of twenty years Gerald R. Humphrey; two loving children, Sean L. Humphrey and Rebecca A. Humphrey, both of Lancaster. She leaves her mother Dorothy Ley of Pennsylvania; four brothers, William Ley of Maryland; Joseph, Karl and Vincent Ley all of Pennsylvania; six sisters, Doris O'Shea, Mary Ellen Hesidence, Roberta Cox, and Elizabeth Ley, all of Pennsylvania, Kathy Mahon of Illinois, and Lorraine Owens of Roslindale. She is also survived by her mother-in-law Elizabeth Foust of South Yarmouth, brother-in-law Jonathan Humphrey of Hingham, numerous nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. She is preceded in death by a sister Ruth Ley.

Theresa was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Dorothy A. (Nicoll) Ley and the late Joseph C. Ley. She was a graduate of Upper Saint Clair High School Class of 1977 and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Communications from Boston University. Terry was employed in international business development for the Verbatim Advisory Group, LLC in Maynard.  She formerly worked for IBC Donahue, Inc. of Ashland and the Thompson Financial Group of Boston.  A former Democratic Delegate for the town of Lancaster, Terry held great interest in local and national politics.  She enjoyed arts and crafts and took pride in her detailed work as a self-employed seamstress specializing in upholstery.  She cherished the opportunities to host parties for family and friends and will be fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure to have known her. A memorial service is to be held at 2PM on Saturday, November 1, 2008 at the First Church of Christ Unitarian, 725 Main St., Lancaster.

It was such a shock to hear about Terri and my heartfelt sympathy goes out to her entire family. My memories of Terri are from so long ago, as they are the wonderful memories only cousins can know.
