Dorothy Wallace Obituary

Dorothy M. (Rainey) Wallace, 91, formerly of Prospect St. died Sun., Nov. 2, 2008 in the St. Camillus Health Care Center in Whitinsville.

She was the wife of the late Leon S. Wallace who died in 1985.

A lifelong resident of Northbridge, Mrs. Wallace had been employed as a Telephone Operator for the former Whitin Machine Works in Whitinsville and was a hairdresser locally.

Mrs. Wallace was born September 6, 1917 in Whitinsville the daughter of the late William and Jeannie (Taylor) Rainey. She was a graduate of Northbridge High School, Class of 1936 and the former Elizabeth Ollis Academy in Worcester.

Mrs. Wallace was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Whitinsville for over 70 years where she was a member of the Kathryn M. Huston Mission Circle. She enjoyed cooking, crafts, crewel and knitting.

Mrs. Wallace is survived by one sister; Gloria W. and her husband John A. Rauth of Northbridge and one nephew John A. Rauth Jr. of Northbridge. She was pre-deceased by one brother John T. Rainey and one sister M. Eleanor Rainey.

Funeral services will be held Weds. Nov. 5, 2008 at 1 PM in the BUMA FUNERAL HOME, 480 Church St., Whitinsville, MA 01588. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Linwood Ave., Whitinsville. There will be no visiting hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kathryn M. Huston Mission Circle, Scholarship Fund, c/o United Presbyterian Church, 7 Spring St., Whitinsville, MA 01588.

Dorothy Wallace (fondly "Mrs. Walrus" to my young children) was a sweet neighbor who grew to be much more than that. I enjoyed spending time in her company and know that her memory will live on in our hearts. Our deepest sympathy.
