John Gengarelli Obituary

John J. "Jack" Gengarelli, Jr., 70, of Millbury, passed away Monday, November 10th 2008 in the University of Massachusetts Hospital after being stricken ill at home.

Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Marie A. (Ritacco) Gengarelli; four devoted children: Debra A. Walls and her husband Bobby of Rochdale, Sandra J. Kosmider and her husband Ed of Charlton, Mark J. Gengarelli and his wife Wendy and Christopher J. Gengarelli, all of Millbury; a brother, Richard Gengarelli and his wife Rosaria of Naples Italy; two grandchildren: Scott Grabauskas and his wife Becky, and Devon Gengarelli; two step grandchildren: Corissa and Jeffrey Walls; many cousins, nieces and nephews. Jack was born in Worcester, the son of the late John J. Gengarelli Sr. and Stella (Sage) Gengarelli. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade, served in the Massachusetts Army National Guard 181st Infantry Battalion in Worcester and has lived in Millbury more than 42 years.

Jack worked many years as an electrician for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts at the Glavin Regional Center in Shrewsbury, before retiring in 2002. He previously was an electrician 26 years for the General Motors Corporation at the Framingham Assembly Plant before they closed operations.

Jack was a gentile man with a great sense of humor who devoted his life to his family. His grandchildren, who called him "Buggy" were his inspiration, his wife, and children his cherished possessions. They enjoyed the family gatherings at holidays, vacations in Maine and family special occasions. Besides his family, Jack enjoyed the outdoors, in fishing, hunting, bird watching and took great pride in his yard and garden.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 15th at 1 p.m. in The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. To Wendy,

I am sorry to hear of Jack's departure from this earth. Unfortunately, I know all to well how you are feeling since it was just one year ago I lost my father-in-law unexpectedly. Be at peace remembering the great times and knowing he has arrived at his final destination in heaven. Devin will have a guardian angel to look over her.

My condolences, Barbara
