Martha McCarthy Obituary

Martha H. (Navedonsky) McCarthy, 89, of Woodland St. died Tue. Nov. 11, 2008 at Milford Regional Hospital. Her husband of 55 years John F. McCarthy died on March 29, 1996.

She is survived by her son, Thomas J. McCarthy of Belmont; her daughter, Patricia A. Lyman of Whitinsville; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her son, John M. McCarthy in 2006, her brother, Charles Navedonsky and her sister, Helen Barus.

Born in Athol, on Feb. 7, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Josephine (Luscomb) Navedonsky and has lived in Whitinsville for 22 years, previously living in Athol. Martha graduated from Athol High School in 1936. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Whitinsville and enjoyed cooking, sewing, knitting, crocheting and gardening.

Her funeral will be held on Sat. Nov. 15, with a service at 10 a.m. in Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St., Whitinsville, MA 01588. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery in Athol. A calling hour at the funeral home will be held on Sat. Nov. 15, from 9-10 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations in Martha's memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. I am so sorry. Martha has been a wonderful neighbor. We will miss her very much. Please let us know if there is anything we can do. I know she is in a better place and happy she was such a good person. She certainly loved her family.
