Philomena Smith Obituary

Philomena A. (Scappaticci) Smith, of Worcester, died unexpectedly, Monday, Nov. 10, at St. Vincent Hospital. Her husband, Charles E. Smith, died Nov. 4.

She leaves her brother, Benjamin A. Scappaticci and his wife, Nancy, of Holden; her sisters, Mary A. Hatstat of Rutland, Tina L. Russo and her husband, Ralph, of Worcester and Michelina A. Brouillette and her husband, Donald, of Harwich; nieces and nephews; grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Philomena was born in Worcester, daughter of Antonio and Lucy (Notarangelo) Scappaticci and lived here all her life. She graduated from Worcester Girls Trade.

Philomena worked for the former Grosvenor Shoe Co. and for over 25 years at Worcester Knitting Company, retiring in 1971. The family would like to thank the medical staff of St. Vincent hospital for their compassion and help during Philomena's unexpected death.

A private Funeral Mass was held Thursday, Nov. 13, in Our Lady of Mount Carmel – St. Ann Church. Interment was in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Memorials in her name may be made to Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden St., Worcester, 01606. Arrangements by The CALLAHAN-FAY BROTHERS Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester.
