James Broquist Obituary

James D. "Jim" Broquist, 68, of 31 South Stowell St., formerly of 1050 Main St., born December 23, 1939, a longtime employee of Worcester State Hospital, died Sunday November 23 after a short illness at home with his loved ones.

He was predeceased by his father, David S. Broquist in 1959, his mother, Elizabeth "Liz" (Tierney) Broquist in 2000, his brother, Robert E. Broquist in 1997, all of Worcester, and his sister, Elizabeth "Sue" Broquist Denham of Webster in 2005.

He leaves his son, James A. Broquist of Shrewsbury; his longtime partner and best friend, Paula A. Miller of Worcester; two stepchildren, Jody Miller and her spouse, Larry Peak of Worcester and Joseph Miller, Jr., and his wife Lianne of Auburn; seven grandchildren, Larry and Taylor Peak, Joseph III, Alyssa, Richie, Jake and Joel Miller all of Massachusetts and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Broquist worked at Worcester State Hospital for 38 years as a personal care attendant before retiring in 1997. He was a member of St. John's Church and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 4311. He grew up in Worcester and lived on Grafton Hill most of his life. He had a great sense of humor and a wonderful personality, a beautiful smile and a heart of gold. He loved country music and his grandchildren dearly. He loved hanging out with his friends and was an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan. He was deeply loved and will be sadly missed but will always be in our hearts. Rest in peace Jim - with our love.

The funeral will be held on Saturday November 29, from DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton St., with a Mass at 12:00 NOON in St. John Church, 40 Temple St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Friday Nov. 28 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
