Dearest Uncle Jay and family,
Words cannot express how deeply saddened we are to learn of Betty’s passing. I want you to know how grateful I am that we were able to see each other just this past summer; sharing pictures of our kids and comparing notes on Jack Russell puppies. I will always remember her smile, her strength, and her wonderful sense of humor. It seems that angels on earth are always called too soon. Although we are miles apart, please know that I hold you in my heart, and wish you peace.
Love,
Tab

Dear Jay and kids:

We are lifting continual prayers for you during this season of loss. We love and care for you and pray the Holy Spirit will heal your souls. Betty was the fullness of Jesus Christ in her servitude to her family and friends. Her attitude and enthusiasm for Jesus was infectious and she truly was an ambassador for Christ. The light within her shown brightly as her life will always be an example for the rest of us. When a saint is promoted into the Presence of the King, we are left to pick up the pieces. My memories of Betty greeting us and hugging us every Sunday service energizes us to go and be a blessing to someone as she was to us.
I pray the children will pick up the torch of Christ that Betty carried to become the champions of their generation as she was to ours.
I thank God for every remembrance of you.

In His Service:
Tom, Sue, Noah, Ian, Liam O’Connor

To Moe & Linda, Rick & Jane and the Powers and McCaffrey Families,

Charlie and I were shocked and saddened to hear of Betty's death. I can still remember the whole Powers clan from the days at St. Mark's when we were all kids. They were such a beautiful family as they all filed in for church.

I know all too well that there is nothing I can say to ease the pain you all are suffering, but I hope you can take some comfort in knowing that you are in the thoughts and prayers of many people.

Sometimes the time we get to share with a loved one is way to short...but time can't take away our memories and in our hearts we will cherish their memories forever.

Dear Rich , Jane and Family,
We had heard the story of the pedestrian that was hit walking her dog. We had no idea until our son Mark walked in tonight and told us that she was your sister. While my Rich has known you guys for most of his life now...I have memories of being a very young girl when we would go to the gas station to get gas. I remember Moe and your dad. What I remember from that time was how kind they were. My step dad was just starting out in business back then in the 70's. There were not a lot of African American men in business in Leominster at the time and he was given a hard time by others trying to cause his business to fail. But your family was always so kind to him. My step dad and mom have not been together for 27 years now...yet all these years later he still asks about your family and talks about the kindness you all showed him. There was always a smile to greet anyone who went to your station.
Both David and Briahnna have had the pleasure of having you for a baseball coach. We have watched all of your children and their successes in sports...but even more so in their familial relationships and the closeness you share. Having never known Betty , we can only imagine that she must have been cut from the same cloth as you and your children from all we have read here about her. I have read about her smile and the joyfulness of spirit and the person that comes to my mind is your little James. He is such a joy to be around and so fun to watch in baseball and basketball. He is a great kid!!
So we can only imagine the pain you and your family must feel at the loss of such a kind and loving person and and we wanted to extend our condolences to you and all of your family.
I am sure you have many , many happy memories to keep her close at heart.
I personally had no idea there were so many brothers and sisters....but stay strong and stay close and know that you are in the thoughts and prayers of many.
It is obvious that the many branches of your family have touched the lives of so many. I am sure Betty has enriched the lives of all she encountered just the way that you have enriched the lives of our children in sports and the life of that little girl I once was just going along for the ride to get gas and see a friendly smile!
God Bless you all!

I am deeply saddened and shocked that our Betty is gone. She was truly a remarkable woman whose spirited smile permeated any room she entered. And though the sparkle in her eye has been dimmed, it will be reignited when she hears her name called by our Grand Creator. Thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathy to all her loved ones.

Eleanor (Dobson) Williams

November 29, 2008

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Betty"s Family,
I too, knew Betty from working at the
IRS, for many years. She was a God send to me those first awkward days. But she helped me get through it. I will forever be grateful to her, and we had fun working together after that. We even rode to work together for awhile. I will always have those memories of Betty, what a great loss to the community, my condolences to the family, this is going to be hard, but think of all the wonderful memories you had with her, and keep those close to your heart. You are all in my prayers. May God Bless you all.

Words cannot express our sadness at the loss of Betty. She always had a smile on her face, and I enjoyed seeing her at various functions. We didn't know each other well, but she always remembered stories we told each other from previous gatherings. Her laughter was contagious. She is now smiling down on all of you, and know you are not alone in your grief. She was a very special person who is now in God's hands, and a piece of her will live on in each one of us that had the pleasure of knowing her in some small way.

Hey Mr. Jay, "Krispy", Jake, Luke and Mark...

You guys have always been like a second fam to me. We all kinda went our own separate paths in life after L.A.G. and virtually lost touch, but you have always remained in my heart and in my mind through all of life's journeys.

God has a weird way of bringing us all back together, and even though I wish it were under more joyful circumstances...

I miss all of you like crazy and I will do all that I can to get out to see you this weekend even if it's just for moral support.

Luke, ever since Staight Arrows, I've looked at you like the brother I never was fortunate enough to have.

This is one of the worst things that can ever happen to a person but I know you are strong. Life will get better for you and things will all work themselves out in the end.

When all is said and done, we'll all be back together with your mom in a FAR better place than this life will ever be.
I love you, bro. Just hang in there and stay strong...

My heart is breaking to hear of the tragic accident that took our Betty.. I grew up with Betty and her entire family in the Pleasant St. & Wachusett St. neighborhood. Funny enough, Betty and I never left that neighborhood. My memories of Betty start when we were just small children..I cannot tell you how delighted and happy I was the day I started my brand new job at the IRS......I was petrified....but low and behold, I walked in and there was Betty, "the friendly face in the crowd of strangers", I fortunately got to spend many more years with this wonderful person....I will miss her soooo much as will so many other friends who she touched.....My thoughts and prayers are with all of you...........Sherri Leahey

Betty was a very special person to alot of people.....many people knew her and loved her zest for life....anyone who came in contact with her couldnt help but love her for the kind-hearted person she was. She had a great personality and always had a smile on her face...I will miss seeing her Sunday mornings at church and getting that special hug, but I know her spirit will be with all of us always......

To the McCaffrey Family,
I am so sorry to hear of the tragic passing of Betty. Although, I haven't seen many of you since the old family reunion days(I am Mary Spencers(Murray)-Great Grandaughter), I know what an amazingly tight knit family you all are. Please take comfort in the amazing memories and kind words that all are expressing. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Betty was a very special person to all of us, and it is so difficult to express how much she meant to us in just a few short words. Her death was so sudden and tragic. When I read the news, I simply could not believe it. She was too young, but as it slowly occured to me, I have realized that Betty indeed lived her life wonderfully. No doubt, it is a time where tears will be shed, and we should all be thankful that were were given the chance to have known this incredible, SWEET lady named Betty! I amongst many, were fortunate enough to work with Betty at the IRS, her beaufitul red hair and soft personality were a definate asset to the work place. God Bless her family!

To the McCaffrey Family,
I am so deeply sorry to hear of your loss. This is such a tragedy. Mrs. McCaffrey was, easily, one of the nicest people I have ever met in my life. She was so happy and self-less. For many years of dance with Kristie, Mrs. McCaffrey was there to lend a hand in any was she could. Through all of the McCaffrey/Powers family functions we danced at through the years, Mrs. McCaffrey was so proud of her children, and it always showed on her face.

Again, I am so sorry for your loss. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
