Jeannette Richard Obituary

Jeannette L. (Messier) Richard, 88, of Worcester, died Friday, December 5th in the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence.

Her husband, Andrew C. Richard, died in 1998. She leaves a son, Andrew C. "Drew" Richard, Jr. and his wife Renee of Charlton; a daughter, Mary Anne Ferrante and her husband Dennis of Shrewsbury; a brother, Russell Messier of Grafton; a sister, Sr. Mary Edward of Worcester; a sister-in-law, Mary E. Richard of Worcester; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a nephew and two nieces. She was born in Leicester, the daughter of Louis and Miselva (Robidoux) Messier and graduated from Leicester High School and the Kozakova School of Design.

Mrs. Richard was a dress designer at Donway's Bridal Shop and later was a shop instructor at the Mercy Centre, before retiring. She was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church, the Thursday Afternoon Club, the Leicester Historical Society and the Leicester Womens Club. During World War II, Jeannette was on a greeting committee for dignitaries appearing in a band show and had a luncheon with the men who raised the flag at Iwo Jima.

The funeral is Monday, December 8th from O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 11:00 A.M. in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours are from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. Sunday, December 7th in the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Friends of Mercy Centre, 25 West Chester Street, Worcester, MA 01605.
