Meyer Rangell Obituary

Meyer Rangell, 91, successful businessman, social worker and humanist, died Saturday, August 18th, in his home in Worcester.

Formerly of New York, he was predeceased by his cherished first wife, Lea. After her untimely death, he married Evelyn, recently deceased, whom he adored. He was the beloved father of Anne Richstone and her husband, Michael, of Rutland and of Harmon Rangell of New York. He is survived by his dear sister, Sydelle Levitan of New York and by his brother, Dr. Leo Rangell, of California. He was the loving brother of the late Dr. Nelson Rangell of Colorado. He was deeply cherished and loved by his grandchildren, Danielle Ayotte and her husband, David, of Paxton and Dr. Lee Richstone of New York, and by his three great-grandchildren: Ryan, Rachel and Benjamin Ayotte; also survived by many family members and dear friends.

Mr. Rangell was a dedicated pacifist, who held a deep and lifelong commitment to forcefully speaking out against poverty, inequity, oppression and injustice through innumerable national and local newspaper editorials and in his published book entitled: Speaking Out! Toward an Ethic of Personal Integrity and Citizen Responsibility in a Democratic Society.

Private services to be held in Farmingdale, NY. Perlman Funeral Home, 1026 Main St., is directing the arrangements.

Very sorry to hear of Mike's passing. Before he left Bloomingburg, I was his computer repairman - we often sat and talked for hours on many subjects, sometimes he even listened to me :). I'll miss him.

I will always remember Uncle Mike as a mentor, a friend, and an inspiration. His zest for life was matched only by his zeal for justice. The world is truly a lesser place without him.

I mourn his passing.Meyer was a friend for only a short while but I found him very impressive with his opinions. He took a photo of me 2 weeks ago and I am very privileged to be a recipient of a reminder of his artistic talent.
