Linda Moran Obituary

Linda (Drake) Moran, 55, of  Southborough &  Brewster died Sun, Aug, 19, 2007 at her home with her husband and children by her side, after a courageous 9 year battle with breast cancer. She was the wife of Kevin Moran for the past 33 years.

Born in Framingham she was the daughter of Marguerite (McNeil) Drake of Framingham & the late Robert Drake.

She was a 1970 graduate of Elizabeth Seton High School of  Natick & a graduate of Merimack College, class of 1974.

She taught School in Bellingham until she started her family. While raising her children she worked part time for Framingham Savings Bank, Robert A. Drake Company, Southborough Medical Group & New England Center for Autism. She was also  the propietor of the Coffee Garden, Bakery & Café of Southborough, where she was well known for her baked goods. She returned to her love of teaching, most recently a 5th grade teacher at Neary Elementary School in Southborough.

For the past 5 summers she worked at the Brewster General Store. She enjoyed an active life, with trips to Maine, skiing, antique shopping, & climbing Bald Mountain. While on Cape Cod she enjoyed walking the beaches, kayaking, biking & swimming. She also took pleasure in family trips to Canada, Disney World and visiting her children in the various parts of the country in which they lived.

Mrs. Moran was a member of Kindergroup of Southborough where she was a daily coordinator & Southborough Organization for Schools. In 1992-1993 she was named Volunteer of the Year by SOS. She was also a member of Algonquin Booster Club where her daughters participated in school sports. She was a dedicated fan at Marian High School athletic events that her son took part in.

Linda was an avid runner and while battling cancer she completed the Boston Marathon in 2005, Disney World half marathon in 2006 & 07, along with annual road races including Falmouth, Brewster, & Southborough. She was a member of St. Matthew Church & St. Anne Church all of Southborough. Mrs. Moran's favorite passion was raising her children.

In addition to her husband & mother she is survived by her 6 children, Julie A. of Boca Raton, FL; Catherine C. of Breaux Bridge, LA; Megan D. of Quincy; Petty Officer Kerri E. (USCG) of Massena, NY; Molly E. & Kevin P. both of Brewster; her 5 siblings, Judy Beattie of Nashua; David Drake of Framingham; William Drake of Hingham; Michael Drake of Framingham; Gregory Drake of Franklin, a granddaughter, & many nieces & nephews.

Visiting hours will be Wed, Aug. 22, from 4 to 8 PM at the Morris Funeral Home (Morrisfuneralparlor.com) 40 Main St, Southborough. A Mass of resurrection will be Thurs, Aug. 23, at noon, at St Matthew Church, Highland St. Southborough. Burial will be private.
