Richard Bickford Obituary

Richard P. Bickford, 64 of 31 Pakachoag Village died Friday, Aug 24th in Umass Memorial Hospital Worcester after an illness.

Richard was born in Fitchburg June 7, 1943, the son of William P. Melanson and Margery (Harley) Bickford and had lived in Lunenburg until about 11 years ago moving to Worcester and then to Auburn about a year ago.

He was employed as a finish mason for Old Yankee Masonry Co. Many years ago Richard had been employed as a groundskeeper for the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park and was a baseball enthusiast. He was a graduate of Lunenburg High School, class of 1961 and had attended Worcester Junior College and Harvard University. Richard was a student of history.

He leaves his stepfather Ralph M. Bickford of New Ipswich N.H., one sister, Meredith Bickford of Milford N.H., a half brother, Kenneth Melanson, aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in North Cemetery Lunenburg. Aubuchon-Moorcroft Funeral Home, Fitchburg is assisting the family with arrangements.
