Philip Potenti Obituary

Philip P. Potenti, 89, of Worcester died peacefully Sunday September 30, 2007 in the University Commons surrounded by his family. His wife Helen (Mattson) Potenti died in 1994. Phil is survived by his loving family: a son, Philip R. Potenti of Worcester; three daughters, Bonita "Bonnie" Castellani and her husband Joseph of Florida, Angela Westberg and her husband John of Brookfield, and Paula Waters of Worcester; twelve grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; a brother, Fred Potenti and a sister, Delores D'acri; many nephews, nieces, and great nephews and great nieces.

Philip was born in Worcester son of Marino and Bomina (Arcuri) Potenti who immigrated from Acri Cosenza, Italy. He was one of fifteen brothers and sisters. Phil was predeceased by six brothers, John at birth, and Domenic, John, Robert, Paul, and Raymond, and six sisters, Annie DeSalvio, Theresa Arcuri, Julia Michaud, Louise Potenti, Lena Kazmerzeck, and Lucy Sjosten.

He was a Postman for the U. S. Postal Service for 28 years before he retired and was also a bartender for many years at the Four Season's Restaurant.

Phil was a Navy Veteran of WWII, and was a member of the East Side Post #201, the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 4, The Knights Of Columbus, and a long time member of Our Lady Of Loreto Church. He loved shopping, and was always helping people. He will be missed by his family and friends.

Phil's funeral will be held Wednesday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. in Our Lady Of Loreto Church, 33 Massasoit Rd. Calling hours will be held from 5-8 P.M. on Tuesday (tonight). Burial will be private in St. John's Cemetery.
