William Byrnes Obituary

William F. Byrnes, age 81, of 150 Wilsonville Road, died Saturday, October 13, 2007, at Day Kimball Hospital, Putnam, CT.

He leaves his wife of 60 years, Mary A. (Collins) Byrnes of Wilsonville; a sister, Jeanne Peck of Newburgh, NY; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Marion Silkworth of Newburgh, NY.

He was born in Newburgh, NY son of the late John and Mary (Keelan) Byrnes. He was a World War II U.S. Navy Veteran and was the Vice President of Zurn Industries. He was a Past Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus, Newburgh, NY, and was also a member of the Council #6980 in Portage, MI. He was active in Junior Achievement in Michigan and with the Little League in Newburgh. In addition, Mr. Byrnes was a Past President of the Serra for the Diocese of Worcester, had been a member of the Thompson Board of Education and served as a Lector for Saint Louis Church.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 17, 2007, from the Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, 48 School Street, Webster with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Louis Church, Lake Street, Webster. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Newburgh, NY. Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday, October 16, 2007, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Kindly Omit Flowers. Donations in his memory may be made to Saint Louis Church, Lake Street, Webster, MA 01570.

Bill was such a super person - he always made others feel important and enjoyed a great sense of humor.The neighborhood is not ever going to be the same - Mary you must have 60 years of great memories being married to such a wonderful person..
