Martha Ferrecchia Obituary

Martha C. (Thomas) Ferrecchia, 80, of Marlborough died Saturday, April 18, 2009 at Marlboro Hills surrounded by her family.

She was the wife of the late Joseph A. Ferrecchia, former Mayor of Marlborough, who died in 1992.

She leaves her children, Joanne H. wife of James R. Willis of Sugar Hill, GA, Victoria R. wife of David M. McLaughlin of Auburn, Claudia M. Ferrecchia of Marlborough and Regina A. Ferrecchia of Millbury; her sister, Antoinette H. Pittelli of Dig Harbor, Washington. Also leaves 15 grandchildren, James Jr. Joseph and Catherine Willis; Michael, Marcus and Daniel McLaughlin; Matthew and Christopher Gandolfo; Regina Gagliardi; Brian, David, Christina, Gianna, Joseph and Nadia Okuliczki and 13 great grandchildren, Anthony Deprey-Willis; Ryan, Mackenzie, Shaun, Calvin McLaughlin; Hayley Kubs; Alanna, Erynn, Kyle Heath, Lilyhana, Liam and Sawyer Gandolfo and Giovanni Gagliardi. Mother of the late Thomas A. Ferrecchia who died in 2001 and Joseph A. Ferrecchia Jr. who died in 1955.

She was born in Husdon daughter of the late Victor and Adelaide (Vangile) Thomas and has lived in Marlborough for most of her life.

She was a 1946 graduate of Hudson High School and also attended Boston University.

She was the former women's editor for the Marlborough Enterprise Newspaper for over 20 years before her retirement in 1989.

She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church and a former longtime member of St. Ann Church of Marlborough where she was a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality and a former C.C.D. teacher. She also volunteered at the Marlborough Public Library.

She was an avid reader, enjoyed watching old movies, needlepointing and gardening, she also raised her own Gloxinias.

Funeral will be held Thursday, April 23, 2009, at 8 AM from the John P. Rowe Funeral Home, Inc., 57 Main St., Marlborough with a Mass at 9 AM in the Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect St., Marlborough. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Marlborough.

Calling hours at the funeral home are Wednesday 4 til 8 PM.

Memorial donations may be made to either the Central Mass Shelter for Homeless Veterans, 69 Grove St., Worcester, MA 01605 or the Friends of the Marlborough Public Library, West Main St., Marlborough, MA 01752.
