Carol,
Thank you so much for notifying me of your beloved Pop's death. I am so sorry for his loss to you and your family. He was a great man, did a wonderful job raising and providing for his family, and will be missed by all who knew him. I'm sorry I did not have that privilege. His funeral service helped me feel like I knew him. And since I know his fabulous, talented, funny daughter, I know him! He taught you! Thank you for sharing your family time with me during my too-brief visit with
you, your family and Mary Kadair Crump (Up With People '76-'77).
Love always,

Someone once said "Like Father, Like Son". After Mr. Nichols' services, I quickly realized it should be stated, "Like Father, Like Daughter". Carol, you are truly your father's child. It must have been a pleasure to have been in his presence and you must be proud to call him "Pop". I know this time is difficult, but I'm sure he'd want you to focus on the love he gave to you and your family. Keep his legacy of love, laughter, giving, and humor alive. You're well on your way. I'm praying for you and yours.

I was saddened to see "Nick's" write up in today's Obituary. I remember "Nick" - God sent him in our lives when my children were young and I was a struggling single mother. We considered him to be our adopted "Godfather". He would always encourage us in school and at that time I was in college. It was his influence that made a difference in our lives. Although I haven't been in touch with him for quite some time now, I will continue to pray for his loving family that God will provide strength for their loss. He only wanted to help us out and that is what I will remember most about him and also the many jokes. We will miss him. To the family - hang in there and remember the good times you had with Nick.

Majorie and Family,

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. Nichols or "Nick" as we called him. He taught both of us not only education classes, but about life in general. He was my fraternity brother and a dear friend. He encouraged both of us to attend the University of Minnesota and earn our doctorates. In fact, he highly recommended us to the University. He was an excellent educator as well as an extraordinary person. We will surely miss him. We know this is a difficult time for you and the family, but hang in there. Our prayers are with you and God bless you.

Bob, your Uncle Lloyd was your inspiration and you will miss him dearly, but the time has come for him to depart to a more glorious state.

What a pleasure to have been a student of Dr Nichol. He was a teacher who treated his students fairly and demanded that we learn to succeed rather than show off that we had an education. He did make a difference in the lives of so
many that were far away from home .Education was our way out of poverty, disgust and despair.Thank you Dr. Lloyd George Nichols for the vision and the time that you invested for me, it paid off.

I did not know him personally but I have had the great pleasure of knowing his sweet daughter Kathy. He must have been a wonderful man because Kathy is a great person and she mentioned her daddy so very often. That old saying is true the apple does not fall far from the tree, he must have been a one of a kind daddy and he did real well he raised caring children in a hard world that is not an easy task. Kathy, his daughter would tell me a funny thing her daddy would say, or how he turned a certain phrase, or a story --mind you this was before he passed on to glory. The reason I say that is people always say nice things once a person has gone home to Jesus. But Kathy loved, cherished, adored her daddy well before he was called home. So I did not have the great pleasure to meet him but he lives on through his family and my friend Kathy and the things she believes in, her great sense of humor, kindness, and actual stories he told that she now tells to me and I am learning from. So it goes to show you that the good a person does, lives on well after they are called home to Glory. He is blessing me through his daughter and what he taught her. I am sure her mama has much to do with that also and her wonderful family but you know what they say about daughters they are daddy's girls and she loved her daddy. He was her father, but also her friend you can feel that in how she speaks about him. Their family was blessed in a mighty way to have such a man to talk and listen to them, protect them, make them laugh, show them things that only a daddy can. I know for a fact without a shadow of a doubt he is having a grand old time up in Heaven with his loved ones that have gone on before and he will wait for each and every person in his family and his friends to welcome them when it is their special day. Thank you Lloyd George "Nick" Nichols although I did not know you I actually did in a way through the joy you passed on to my friend and your daughter Kathy, so thank you for doing the right things in life like raising a wonderful family, especially my kind friend Kathy. Peace to all your family.

Thanks, Daddy, for a legacy of family, love of reading, a great sense of humor and tolerance and a joy for teaching. I cannot go anywhere in my profession without meeting others who were likewise influenced--to educate and be educated. I am amazed at the numbers who claim you as their influence. I have joy in God's promise that we are not apart forever...that you are not a "Loss" but a gain in heaven. I know you are talking to Uncle Nick and the others face-to-face now and having a wonderful time! I pray I continue to make you proud.
