Aunt Ruby is my heroine and always will be. She and Uncle Austin set an example for all of us. The numerous memories of times spent with her are all cherished.
Charlie, Rohan, Libby, Lorraine and all the grandchildren both your parents meant so much to my immediate family. They and you will be in our prayers.

To me, she was always known as simply "Grandma". I wasn't related, but I grew up with her grand kids Mary and Chris LaFleur and I always felt that she loved me as if I were part of the family. She was always warm, open and full of unconditional love.
In none of my memories of her do I recall her asking for help. She always was full of pep and eager to do something for you instead. More often than not, she was asking if you needed something to eat and always seemed ready to cook at a moments notice.
Ruby LaFleur was as close to a Grandmother as I'm ever going to know. She was a huge impact on my upbringing and I think helped make me the man I am today. I may not have been family, but she never made me feel that way. She was loving, kind and had one of the biggest hearts I've ever known. I am forever grateful and blessed that she let me call her Grandma.
My thoughts and prayers go out to her family. She was truly a one-of-a-kind person and a testimony to how we should all live our lives.

Aunt Ruby was such a special lady. I have great memories of visiting her and Uncle Austin at their home, playing in their backyard and drinking her Pop Rouge.
When Mike and I got engaged, Aunt Ruby was so excited for us, calling us to wish us well and even bought a special dress for the occassion. I feel so fortunate having her a part of our special day.
Our deepest sympathies,
Michelle La Fleur and Michael Goetz

To the family, my prayers are with you, and I hope that you find comfort in the Lord. Ms.Ruby was one of my favorite patients at Baton Rouge Health Care, I am one of the night Nurse's. She was always beautiful and pleasant to be around, and most humourous. Good job to the grandson that is keeping up her house, it meant the world to her. Rohan and Charles, you will receive your just reward from God with the wonderful way you took care of your mother. God bless you all.

Aunt Ruby was a surrogate mother to many of her nieces & nephews, me included. I, like many of my cousins came to Baton Rouge looking for work. Most of us stayed with Aunt Ruby and Uncle Austin while we looked for jobs. In fact, she would drive us to our interviews in the “old black bug”.
She was a remarkable lady with an unbelievable memory for dates and events. She could tell you when all my nieces and nephews and most of their kids were born. I couldn’t keep up with mine.
She had the wonderful gift of love for everyone she met.
Aunt Ruby will not be forgotten in my lifetime or that of my children and my grandchildren.

I first met Aunt Ruby when my husband and I got married. She was his father's sister-in-law. Ruby had such a wonderful outlook on life. She believed in living life to the fullest and never hesitated to help anyone who needed help. Her bright light will be sorely missed here on Earth, but the angels in Heaven are rejoicing at having her join them. God bless you, Aunt Ruby.
