Steve was a big icon in Varna. His attendance and dedication to bbq chicken for the church was monumental. He loved doing it and he was well known for it! He also was one of the best cleaners at P&C, running the floor cleaning machine. A great guy!

It's hard to believe that it's been so many years since Stevie's passing. He was often seen at P&C East Hill running the floor cleaner early in the morning before most folks would arrive to work and shop at the store. His passing was sad and are sorry for his family that he was so young when he was needed elsewhere. Our thoughts are with him and his family members, as well as the Varna community, who benefited greatly from his love of barbecuing chicken and helping the hamlet.

I am very sorry to hear about Steve and my condolences go out to his friends and family. I worked with Steve for a while at P&C and he was always a really nice guy, always helping everybody out with what he could help with. I know he struggled for a long time with illness and hopefully now he is at peace and isn't struggling anymore.

The initial shock of losing Steve is just beginning to fade, and in it's place...reality. Of never again seeing Steve driving by in his green pickup, or stopping in with some tidbit of interesting information, stories of where he just came back from or where he was going to next...or talking about his beloved tractor, or bringing us food from his garden. Steve always talked so kindly of his dad, his sister and family over the many years I've known him. I will miss his kindness, generosity and willingness to do anything for someone in need. He always asked how I or my family were doing, was polite and was always the gentleman. His cheerful manner and sparkle in his eyes spoke volumes. I like to think Steve, when it was time for you to go, your Mom was waiting there for you with open arms, a smile and a big hug, the kind only a mother can give...making your last journey calm and peaceful. Goodbye my old friend...you will be sadly missed.

I went to IHS with Steve and always knew him to be a sweet and caring person. Later in life I reconnected with Steve at P&C. He was such a pleasure to talk with and made grocery shopping a little take on "old home" day where you would catch up on all the "Ithaca happenings"...he seemed to know so many people. When Steve left P&C I knew it was for health reasons and we would catch-up from time to time when I would see him shopping there.
I am heart broken to know I have lost a friend, but I have no doubt that his sweet spirit resides in Heaven.
My most heartfelt condolences and prayers are with his family.

I'm sorry to hear of Steve's passing. I knew him through the Boy Scouts, first with his troop, and later as a member of our Camp Barton staff. Steve was a very kindly soul who leaves very good memories. I used to see him at the P and C, an outstanding worker. Rest in Peace Steve, your friend, Alan/ww
