GEORGIA C. CHESLEY
INTERLAKEN - Georgia C. Chesley, age 64, of 8073 Route 89, passed away at the Cayuga Medical Center on Wednesday, August 20, 2008.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Saturday, August 23, 2008, at Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg. A Funeral Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 24, 2008, at the funeral home with Rev. Derek VandeSlunt of the Interlaken Reformed Church officiating. Following the service a reception will be held at the American Legion Post #770, Trumansburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Georgia's name may be directed to the South Seneca Ambulance Corps, PO Box 280, Ovid, NY 14521; of the American Cancer Society, 13 Beach St., Johnson City, NY 13790; or American Diabetes Foundation, 1603 W. Genesee St., Syracuse, NY 13204.
Georgia was born on January 28, 1944 in Jacksonville, NY, a daughter of the late Harold and Josephine (Simmons) Beardsley. She was a graduate of Trumansburg High School. She was married to Richard "Buster" Chesley on August 25, 1962. She had worked at the Tompkins County Hospital and at Community Bank in Interlaken and Ovid.
Georgia would like to be remembered as having committed her love, time and devotion to her family, by taking care of her children and grandchildren, baking, canning, gardening and knitting.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Richard "Buster"; children, Douglas (Debbie Murray) Chesley of Waterloo, Kimberly (Lewis Dawson) Chesley of Ft. Myers, FL, and Melissa (Chris) Laverack of Interlaken; her grandchildren, Carrie, Kelly and Jackie Porter, Ethan and Logan Laverack; siblings, Alice Hendrix, Earl Beardsley, and Glenn (Jennifer) Beardsley; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Georgia was preceded in death by her siblings, Helen Wilkins, Dorothea Sowards, Marie Pardon, Harold Beardsley Jr., and Beverly Hastings.
