Erwin Stevens Obituary
GROTON - Erwin (Squeak) L. Stevens, 66, of Chipmans Corners Rd., Groton, died September 2, 2008 at Northwoods at Cortland.
Mr. Stevens was born August 15, 1942 in Cortland, the son of the late Benson V. and Helen S. Sager Stevens.
A lifelong resident of Groton, he was employed at SCM for many years and later Cornell University in custodial services until he became disabled. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, and was an avid Dodgers fan.
He is survived by a sister, Joyce (Robert) Binggeli of Penfield, NY; a brother-in-law, Walter Heim of Cortland; four nieces, Teri (Bruce) Wood, Carrie (John) Stelick, Betsy (Lyn) Ratcliff and Bridget (Ronald) Jercak; four nephews, Robert (Dale) Binggeli, Benson (Rachel) Binggeli, Brian (Lynn) Binggeli and Brad (Val) Binggeli; eight great-nieces and eight great-nephews, a great-great-nephew, several cousins, and all of his wonderful friends and caregivers at Northwoods.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Phyllis Heim.
Private graveside services will be held in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. There are no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cortland Co. SPCA, 879 McLean Rd., Cortland, NY 13045.
The Zirbel Funeral Home, Groton, has care of arrangements.

I am a High School classmate of Erwin and remember the good ole days very well. He played the flute in band and did a mighty good job!

I was sad to hear of Erwin's passing. I know he has had a rough road. I will alway's remember our bowling machine days. Oh what a machine bowler he was.
