HOMER, NY - Mr. Nicholas J. Morrow, 89, of 2 Miller Dr., Homer, NY, passed away Sunday, September 7, 2008, at Cortland Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. Born, May 8, 1919 in Ithaca, NY, Nick was the son of Antonio and Mary Carmella Morrow and was a resident of the Cortland-Homer area most of his life.
For over 25 years Nick was the proprietor of Aurora Shoe Rebuilders on Aurora St. in Ithaca prior to his retirement, and he was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Phyllis Prosperi Morrow; two daughters, Lucy M. Morrow of Homer and Sharon (Michael) Raber of Florida; a brother, Antonio "Frank" Morrow of West Palm Beach, Florida; a sister-in-law, Irene Camillo of Cortland; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Nick was preceded in death by his siblings, Freida, Lena, Christine, Patsy, Louise, Theresa and Luei.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. from the Chapel of Riccardi Funeral Home, 69 N. Main St., Cortland, NY, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church with Monsignor Michael Minehan serving as celebrant. Prayers of committal will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. The Morrow family will be present to receive friends on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions in Nick's memory be made to Caring Community Hospice of Cortland, 11 Kennedy Parkway, Cortland, NY 13045 or Alzheimer's Association of Central New York, 441 W. Kirkpatrick St., Syracuse, NY 13204.
