John Bakerink Obituary

JOHN E. BAKERINK
TRUMANSBURG - John E. Bakerink, 74, of Trumansburg, NY, and formerly of Binghamton, NY, died Monday, September 15, 2008, at Cayuga Medical Center. He was born in Greenfield, Iowa, son of the late Melvin and Vivian Ruth Bakerink. John was a veteran of the United States Army and had worked for various grocery stores in the Binghamton area. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Gerry Waxman Bakerink of Trumansburg; his son, Jeffrey S. Bakerink of Trumansburg; daughters, Beth S. Habeck of Malone, NY, and Melinda M. Bakerink of Keeseville, NY; and his grandsons, Ryan M. and Jason C. Habeck. A memorial service for John will be held on October 23, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at the Assembly of God Church, Thorn Hollow Road, Owego, NY 13827. Donations in John's memory may be made to the Assembly of God Church. The family would also like to thank everyone for their prayers and also would like to thank the ICU staff at Cayuga Medical Center at Ithaca. Arrangements by Bangs Funeral Home.

I worked with John for many years at the old Victory Market in Apalachin. He was the Assistant Manager at the time and I was a teenager (am 51 now). He was a very nice man with a good sense of humor, always kind to all the employees. I'm very sorry for your loss.
