Vernon Miner Obituary
VERNON F. MINER
PLAINVILLE, CT - Vernon F. Miner, 73, of Plainville, formerly of Rocky Hill, passed away at home on September 20, 2008 surrounded by his family. He was the husband of the late Catherine M. Miner. Vernon was born on February 13, 1935 in Caroline, NY, one of ten children of the late Arthur and Emma Miner. Vernon served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Shari Miner, and Patrick and Anne Miner, all of Plainville; his daughter, Jill Shuster of Grays Lake, IL; two sisters, Ethel Brockway of Groton, NY, and Catherine Simmons of Ithaca, NY; nine grandchildren, Jennifer, Jeffrey, Justin, Elisabeth, Gregory, Mathieu Miner, Kalli and John Behm, Kimberly and Joseph Shuster; several nieces and nephews, Paul Stitt, and many good friends. He was predeceased by a daughter, Lisa Miner; and a son, Charles Miner.
A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2008, at 10 a.m. at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, State St., Ithaca, NY. A luncheon will follow the burial at the Brooktondale Fire Hall. Family and friends may gather on Thursday, September 25, 2008, from 4-7 p.m. at Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad St., Plainville, CT. Memorial contributions in Vernon's name may be made to VITAS, 1579 Straits Turnpike, Unit C, Middlebury, CT 06762; or the American Cancer Society, 538 Preston Ave., P.O. Box 1004, Meriden, CT 06450. Dear Miner Family
I am sorry for the loss of someone who is really special. Vern's work ethic, wisdom and sense of humor are what I will always remember. Vern always would help out in a time of need. He was a great dad to us all. I feel blessed to have know him. I pray that God will comfort your family in this time of need.
