SENECA FALLS - Ethel M. Wallenbeck, 77, of Ovid Street, Seneca Falls, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008 at Geneva General Hospital, Geneva
Burial will be at the convenience of the family
Ethel was born Dec. 12, 1930 in Gunton Park, Va., daughter of the late Lester and Clara Arnold Harrell. She had lived in Seneca Falls for the past two years, before that she lived in Lansing and Ithaca for 58 years. She enjoyed playing bingo. In her earlier years, Ethel was well known as a singer in the western band named "Sundown," with which she sang for many years; it was the love of her life.
She is survived by two daughters, Sandy (Steve) Hallett of Plant City, Fla., and Brenda Wallenbeck of Ithaca; one son, Alan (Shari) Wallenbeck of Syracuse; two sisters, Leona Lama of Seneca Falls and Elsie (Robert) Inman of Ithaca; eight grandchildren; Jessica Clark (grandchild) was her best friend and shopping buddy; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Ethel was predeceased by three sisters, Margaret Spence, Thelma Goad and Betty Paige; and one brother, Hobart Harrell.

Memories of Ethel and the band Sundown will always stay with us. Steve Hallette and his mom and dad were neighbors of ours. Our sympathy to you all. Steve and Sandy we are still around. Barb and Jack Walters

To all of Ethels family,
So sorry for your loss...I had a lot of good memories playing in "SunDown" with Ethel. (and with Steve in various other bands) I still have a few photo albums of some of the gigs we played. I often look at the albums and think of all of the great times we had together at band jobs.
May Ethel rest in peace. God Bless you all.
