Elizabeth Packer Obituary
PACKER
ITHACA - Elizabeth (Betty) Packer, 91, of 103 Bundy Road, Ithaca, NY, passed peacefully at Cayuga Medical Center Monday, October 6, 2008.
Betty was born in Ithaca, NY and life native. She is the daughter of the late Arthur L. Cummings and E. Louise Auble of Ithaca, NY.
Betty was a retiree of Cornell University, School of Engineering. She enjoyed travel, theatre, boating and antiquing. Betty was a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church and actively involved in numerous clubs, organizations and volunteered at Cayuga Medical Center.
Predeceased by brothers, John F. Cummings, Robert J. Cummings; son, Frank A. Packer; and lifelong cherished friend, Abe Abraham.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Chris Packer, Deborah Packer, Arnold and Mark Packer; and several great-grandchildren of Georgia; close Ithaca native nieces, Susan Cummings, Cindy Cummings; and great-niece, Grace Elizabeth Mott; nephew, Dr. R. Jay Cummings of Florida; and niece, Joey Cummings of New York, New York.
The family would like to extend a loving thank you to friends, the caregivers at Altera for the years of support given to Betty and family. A special thanks to Ruth Thompson and Jim Chambers for their love and caring.
Burial services for family and friends will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 8, 2008, at Union Cemetery in Ovid, NY. Services will be officiated by Pastor Eunice Tabor from St. Paul's Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to St. Paul's UMC, 402 N. Aurora St., Ithaca, NY 14850, in Betty's memory.
Arrangements are under the direction of Covert Funeral Home, Ovid, NY, 869-3411.

To the family of Betty Packer, my thoughts and prayers are with you. I knew Betty because she spent so much time with my great- uncle, Ebo Abraham. What a sweet, compassionate lady she was.

You will be missed, I always looked forward to seeing you over the Thanksgiving Holidays. I never knew you worked at Cornell's school of Engineering, now that I do, I'm even happier my daughter is studying Engineering at Cornell. If she turns out anything like you I will be more than pleased. Rest in peace, I will never forget you.
