Richard Solomon Obituary
LANSING - Richard H. Solomon, of Lansing, lost his courageous battle with Leukemia (AML), Friday, October 26, 2007, at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA. Born November 17, 1932, son of the late Jesse and Badeia Abraham Solomon.
Richard was a physical therapy graduate of Ithaca College. He did post graduate studies at Cornell, Syracuse and Colgate Universities, Wells College and Michigan Tech, and received a Master's Degree in Education from Albany State University.
He retired as Administrator at B.O.C.E.S. at Ithaca in 1988, after teaching Biology at Dryden Central Schools.
Richard served his country in the Army, a Physical Therapist during the Korean War. He was a member of the St. George Syrian Orthodox Church and a member of the Lansing Masonic Lodge where he served as secretary.
Richard was an avid sports fan, especially of the New York Yankees and horses.
Survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Margaret Comstock Solomon; son, Drew (Sheila) Solomon of Las Vegas, NV; daughter, Heidi (Mark) Noggle of Erie, PA; grandchildren, Lauren and Richard Solomon, Zachary and Daniel Noggle, whom he loved dearly and was so very proud of; a brother, Jess Solomon of Las Vegas, NV; a sister, Margaret Shalaby of Lansing; also aunts, Catherine, Lorraine and Barbara Abraham of Lansing; a niece, Lisa Solomon of Canon Springs, Colorado; nephews, Riad Solomon of Atlanta, GA, Greg and Jay Solomon of Colorado and Christopher Cobb of New Orleans, LA; and a sister-in-law, Natale Cobb of Dunnedin, FL.
He touched so many lives with his wisdom, teaching, intelligence, knowledge, humor, determination and passion for life. He will be sadly missed by all who loved him, as he was a hero and a true friend to so many people. The family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses and caregivers in the Oncology Department at Robert Packer Hospital. They took wonderful care of him for the past two and a half years. A memorial celebration of Richard's life will be held Tuesday, October 30, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at the Lansing United Methodist Church. Family and friends may call Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Bangs Funeral Home, where at 6:15 p.m. the Lansing Masonic Lodge will hold services. Private family burial will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Nancy Quatront Fund, Guthrie Health, Oncology Dept., 1 Guthrie Square, Sayre, PA 18840, or the charity of one's choice.

Dick was the strongest supporter for BOCES, GJR, and Dryden Central. He used his mind to craft grants that he believed would benefit all students from schools in the T-S-T BOCES area. A non-stop, enthusiastic, and tireless professional who set a high standard for loyalty, creativity and innovation. He often said, "If is does not benefit students, why would we want to do it?"
