Russell Oaks Obituary

RUSSELL SCOTT OAKS
LANSING - Russell Scott Oaks, of Lansing, passed away at home on October 30, 2007 at the age of 91.
Born February 5, 1916 in Angelica, NY, Russell was a son of the late Charles and Mabel (Bailer) Oaks. A graduate of Angelica High School, Russell went on to Cornell University, where he was on the varsity wrestling team, and graduated in the Class of 1938. In 1939, Russell married Marion Ann Groesbeck and went to work for GLF. He worked at various locations in upstate New York and in 1972 retired from Agway in Dewitt, NY, as Credit Manager in the Petroleum Division.
Russell hobbies included racing pigeons, hunting and gardening.
In addition to his parents, Russell was preceded in death by a son, Robert of Ithaca, NY; a brother, Gerald of Morrow, GA; and a sister, Lois of Belfast, NY.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marion; three sons, Gary of Phoenix, NY, Charles of Trumansburg, and John of Lansing; his sister, Laura Weiss of Oceanside, CA; six grandchildren, Charles "Scott", Jody, Anthony, Amber, Seth and Samuel; and seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, November 2, at Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South St., Trumansburg, followed by prayers of committal at Grove Cemetery, Trumansburg.
