Uncle Neil was a loving, giving, caring person. One special memory that I have is when he drove all the way down to NC for my wedding by himself and gave us a very special gift that I will always treasure. He gave us his late mother's silver pitcher. My husband and I were so touched and moved by his thoughtfulness and generosity. That is the Uncle Neil that I will always remember. My thought and prayers go out to my cousins Shiela, Roger and Ray at this sorrowful time in your lives. I love you all!

I worked with Neil in Media Services for many years. Even after we all moved on to different places in our lives we always kept in contact sharing news about our kids. Our most recent email was about 3 weeks ago. He was so happy to share the news that he was becoming a grandfather again next year. I told him also that I too was going to be a grandmother again next year & sent him some recent photos of my granddaughter. I'm so glad that I did. I never thought it would be our last. My sincere sympathy to all of his children & their families. He loved you all dearly and he will truely be missed by all of those who knew & loved him. He will always have a special place in my heart.

I first met Neil when he was dating my sister, Linda, and I was about 10. He had a wonderfully inquisitive way about him, followed by a wide-eyed "oh really? Wow!" I always enjoyed his ever-quick wit and good sense of humor.

We shared 2/21 birthdays, albeit 20 years apart, and I always looked forward to hearing something goofy from "Unca Neil" to "Unca Mike", even though neither of us was the other's uncle.

One day that really stands out for me was before my parents' 50th anniversary party. Neil recorded my daughter Lauren (who was not yet four) into his keyboard, and the two of them giggled for a good half-hour -- recording her voice and playing it on the various notes. That is the Neil I'll always remember -- using music and humor to make others laugh.

I enjoyed working with Neil at the ETV Center and the good times on Friday afternoons. He always did his best in doing projects assigned to him. I will never forget him.

The wonder of Neil was his ability to smile through the struggles that surrounded his life. He always met me with a smile and a "bad joke", the latest news on his children and grand children. His eyes would shine with pride when talking about his latest visit to see his kids.

From early on when I started at Cornell, Neil shared his breadth of knowledge and, what I found, joy of understand the various equipment he used at the ETV Center - helping me to make a better product.

He was a professional colleague and a friend, but most of all he was a good egg. I'll miss him.

My thoughts are with his children at this difficult time. May they find comfort in knowing that Neil found joy in their accomplishments. I'll think of him often and remember the crossing of our paths having added to the enrichment of our lives.

Peace be with him now.
