Lloyd Northrup Obituary

LLOYD CORBIN NORTHRUP
OVID - Lloyd Corbin Northrup, age 87, of 2080 Gilbert Station Road, died on Sunday, December 2, at the Seneca Nursing & Rehab Center in Waterloo.
A private graveside ceremony will be held at Mount Green Cemetery in Romulus. As a memorial to Lloyd, the family would ask you to consider taking a quiet moment to reflect on the life of their father and think of the special memories that you may have shared with him.
Lloyd was born in Victor, NY on April 2, 1920, a son of the late Corbin H. and Dora M. (Everett) Northrup. He served his country in the US Army during WWII. Lloyd was dedicated to his service at the Holy Cross Church, where he spent 42 years as the sexton, caring for the church buildings, grounds, and the cemetery. He spent many years digging graves by hand when the church did not have power equipment, rarely deterred by even the winter weather. He felt that everyone deserved a proper burial, and took great pride in the way in which it was accomplished. Many will remember him as the crossing guard at the church as well. He was an avid hunter, outdoorsman, and gardener, often having gardens in multiple locations.
He is survived by his children, Louise M. Warne, Linda M. (Gary) Xavier, Laura Arcangeli and Leonard Northrup, all of Ovid; grandsons, Lorne J. Wandell, Brent C. and Nicholas Xavier, Justin Arcangeli and Scott Northrup. Lloyd was preceded in death by his siblings, Sherman, Doris, Ruth, Ralph, and Willis "Mickey".
Arrangements are under the direction of Covert Funeral Home, 7199 Main Street, Ovid, NY. www.covertfuneralhome.com
